Gum chart

A gum chart you can read at a glance.

Probe six sites per tooth and see pockets, recession and bleeding drawn as you go.

Six sites per tooth

Record the full periodontal picture for every tooth.

  • Pocket depth and recession at all six sites
  • Bleeding, suppuration and plaque per site
  • Mobility and furcation per tooth
  • Attachment loss worked out as pocket depth plus recession

Quick to probe

The chart follows the usual probing path, so the next site is always the one you expect.

  • Upper cheek side 18 to 28, then palate 28 to 18
  • Lower tongue side 48 to 38, then cheek side 38 to 48
  • The draft saves itself as you type

Starts from what you know

A new exam brings over what the file already says.

  • Missing teeth and implants come from the tooth chart
  • Mobility carries over from the last exam
  • Children's charts hold the baby or the adult tooth in each place

Kept safe

A finished exam is locked, so the record you compare against never changes.

  • Only dentists, assistants and admins can open the gum chart
  • Reception and accountants don't see it

Questions

Questions about the gum chart

Does it suggest a periodontitis stage?

For adults it shows a stage hint based on clinical attachment loss. The diagnosis stays the dentist's decision, and children get no hint.

Can I change an exam after finishing it?

No. A completed exam is locked. Start a new exam to record the next visit, so each exam stays as it was on the day.
